Hey Church! Pastor Joel here again.
The situation with the coronavirus (COVID-19) continues to evolve quickly and the news may seem unsettling. However, the good news is God is still on His throne and we don’t need to fear! “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” – 2 Timothy 1:7 .
After much prayer and discussion, the elders and I have decided the prudent course of action is to IMMEDIATELY SUSPEND ALL CHURCH GATHERINGS until further notice. This includes our Sunday services at Royal Oak, as well as mid-week activities such as Refresh Groups, Women’s Prayer, Catalyst Student Ministry, The Gap, and any scheduled men’s and women’s ministry events. Not only do we want to protect the health and well being of everyone in our church family, but we recognize the increased challenges we’ll face trying to ensure we have enough servants to cover our various ministries and the extra load that will place on many. It’s because of our great love for you and our fellowship that we have made every effort to “be together” before deciding on this course of action.
HOWEVER, beginning this Sunday at our usual service time of 2:30 pm, Pastor Joel will LIVESTREAM his teaching “Why do you Fear?” from the Ministry Center (for the first time ever) through his personal Facebook page.
We appreciate that not all of you are on Facebook and are working out details on possibly being able to livestream using other methods in the weeks ahead. If you’re not on Facebook, we encourage you to get together with friends so you don’t miss out on our study of God’s Word. And you can continue to worship the Lord through giving by sending an e-transfer to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Please share this news with others so everyone is aware – especially those who are new to our church who may not yet be on our update list
We will miss being with you in our regular gatherings but know that we are praying for you and look forward to a time in the near future when we can gather in-person to worship the Lord and do life together. Although we live in uncertain and unprecedented times, let me encourage you to rest in the knowledge that God is in control and confidently trust in Him. Let us continue to pray for the situation and be faithful to point to Jesus, the true source of hope, healing and peace.
“The Lord bless you and keep you;
The Lord make His face shine upon you,
And be gracious to you;
The Lord lift up His countenance upon you,
And give you peace.” – Numbers 6:24-26
