We believe in the fundamental doctrines of orthodox evangelical Christianity as embodied in “The Apostles’ Creed.” This creed outlines the core beliefs that guide our faith and practice.
We believe in one living and true God, who eternally exists in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. This triune God is equal in power and glory, and is responsible for creating, upholding, and governing all things.
We believe in God the Father, an infinite, personal Spirit who is perfect in holiness, wisdom, power, and love. He mercifully engages in the affairs of humanity, hears and answers prayers, and offers salvation from sin and death to all who come to Him through Jesus Christ.
We believe in Jesus Christ, God’s only begotten Son, conceived by the Holy Spirit. We affirm His virgin birth, sinless life, miracles, teachings, substitutionary atoning death on the cross, bodily resurrection, ascension into heaven, and perpetual intercession for His people. We also believe in His personal, visible, pre-millennial return to Earth. Jesus Christ is fully human and fully God.
We believe in the Holy Spirit, who comes from the Father and the Son to convict the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment. The Holy Spirit regenerates, sanctifies, and empowers all who believe in Christ. He indwells every believer as an abiding Helper, Teacher, and Guide, and His present ministry includes the exercise of all biblical gifts as reflected through the fruit of the Spirit.
We believe that all Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments are the inspired, infallible Word of God, without error in the original manuscripts. They serve as the ultimate rule of faith and practice.
We believe that all people are naturally separated from God and accountable for their own sin. However, salvation, redemption, and forgiveness are freely offered through the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ. When an individual repents of sin and accepts Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior, they are born again, sealed by the Holy Spirit, and their sins are forgiven. They become a child of God and are destined to spend eternity with the Lord.
We anticipate the pre-tribulation rapture of the church and believe in the literal Second Coming of Christ, who will return with His saints to rule the earth. This belief motivates us to live holy lives, engage in heartfelt worship, commit to service, diligently study God’s Word, participate in regular fellowship, and observe adult baptism by immersion and Holy Communion.
We do not identify as Five-Point Calvinists or Arminians. Instead, we adhere to the biblical teachings of God’s sovereignty and human responsibility, avoiding theological systems that extend beyond the written Word and divide the body of Christ.
We reject beliefs such as “positive confession” (the notion that God can be commanded to heal or perform miracles according to human will), human prophecy that overrides Scripture, the integration of secular psychology into biblical teaching, the excessive focus on spiritual gifts and experiential signs at the expense of biblical teaching, and the idea that true Christians can be demon-possessed.
We believe in the universal Church as the living spiritual body with Christ as its head, and all regenerated persons as its members.
We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ instituted two ordinances for the Church: baptism and the Lord’s Supper. We practice baptism by immersion and hold communion open to all believers in Jesus Christ.
We also believe in the laying on of hands for the commissioning of pastors and missionaries, and in the anointing with oil by elders for the healing of the sick.
How We Put Our Faith into Practice
We believe that the true basis of Christian fellowship is Christ’s Agape love, which transcends our differences. Without this love, we have no right to claim ourselves as Christians.
We believe that worship of God should be spiritual, remaining flexible and responsive to the leading of the Holy Spirit in directing our worship.
We believe that worship should be inspirational, and thus we place significant emphasis on music in our worship services.
We believe that worship should be intelligent, with services designed to emphasize the teaching of the Word of God. We aim to instruct believers on how to worship God, ensuring that His Word is applied to individual lives, leading to greater maturity in Christ. We teach both expositionally and topically.
We believe that worship should be fruitful, and we look for the manifestation of God’s love in our lives as evidence of true worship.
We believe that church government should be simple rather than bureaucratic, relying on the guidance of the Holy Spirit rather than human promotion.
We believe that spiritual gifts are meant for the edification of the body and should be exercised in love. Love is more important than the most spectacular gifts; without love, all spiritual gifts are worthless. In our services, we focus on a personal relationship with God through worship, prayer, and the teaching of His Word. We do not practice speaking in tongues during worship or Bible study because we believe that the Holy Spirit would not cause confusion. Such gifts are encouraged in more intimate settings, such as believers’ services and small groups, where their purpose – the edification of the body of Christ – can be fully realized.
