Prior to the Lord’s calling him into the ministry, Joel was a comedian in western Canada. After coming to Christ, he entered into full-time ministry in North Carolina and later moved home to serve as youth and young adult pastor at a Calvary Chapel in Calgary. In 2007, the Lord moved on his heart to plant a church, Mountain Springs CC, in NW Calgary where he continues to pastor. In 2020 Joel released his first book entitled, “Humor Me”; as a result he now shares his insights on the topics of humour, evangelism, and public speaking. Joel is married to Tania who runs the women’s ministry with her team and they have 4 children who they homeschool: Chloe, Tatum, Roman and Cruz.

Brady Munshaw

Associate Pastor (Worship & Youth)

Brady and his wife Chloe have been attending Mountain Springs since January of 2023. God showed him to us as a candidate for our new Worship Pastor position in the spring of 2023. His call to ministry and passion for Jesus was evident and we were happy to welcome him onto the staff team as a Pastoral Intern shortly thereafter. He was elevated to the role of Pastor in the spring of 2024. Brady oversees Worship Ministry and Jr High Youth.

Steve Rathje

Associate Pastor

Steve and his amazing wife Marilyn have been a part of the Mountain Springs family since 2012. He first joined our staff team as a Pastoral Assistant in 2016 and has served as an Associate Pastor since early 2020. Before God called Steve into the ministry, he worked for many years as a Human Resources professional at various organizations in both Calgary and BC. He describes himself as an ordinary guy doing his best to stay close to Jesus so that he looks, loves, and lives more like Jesus…but he’ll be the first to admit that he still has a long way to go. Steve loves spontaneous adventures, exploring new places, the ocean, ethnic food, chocolate chip cookie dough, going for prayer walks, and perhaps most of all, making people feel welcome and loved when they come to church. He and Marilyn have three grown children (Sara, Jana & Jonah) and two cats that he’s more than willing to give you a deal on if you’re interested.
