Salvation
Salvation is the foundational step in the Christian journey, where an individual recognizes their need for a Savior and accepts Jesus Christ as Lord. This decision is marked by repentance—turning away from sin—and faith in Christ’s sacrificial death and resurrection. Salvation is not merely about securing a place in heaven but about beginning a relationship with God that transforms every aspect of life. (John 3:16; Romans 10:9)

Baptism
Baptism is an outward expression of an inward change. It symbolizes the believer’s identification with Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection. Baptism by immersion reflects the washing away of sin and the believer’s new life in Christ. It’s a public declaration of faith and an important step in obedience to Christ’s command. (Matthew 28:19; Romans 6:4)
How?
Check our Register page to see if a baptism is already scheduled (we usually have one coming up). If there’s nothing posted, just fill out our online Connect Card and check the “Baptism” box—we’ll be in touch right away!
Regular Church Attendance
Regular church attendance is vital for spiritual growth and community. By participating in worship services, fellowship, and the observance of the Lord’s Supper, believers grow in their faith and develop relationships that provide support and accountability. The church is described as the body of Christ, where each member plays a unique role. (Hebrews 10:25; Acts 2:42)
How?
Make Sunday worship a regular part of your week—put it in your calendar if it helps! If you want to learn more about who we are and where you fit in, sign up for our Discover class or stop by the Next Steps desk after any service.
Discipleship
Discipleship is the process of growing in Christ, becoming more like Him through studying the Bible, prayer, and learning from others. It’s about deepening your relationship with God and understanding how to apply biblical principles to your life. Discipleship equips believers to live out their faith in a way that honors God and impacts others. (Matthew 28:20; 2 Timothy 2:2)
How?
Start reading your Bible daily—one-year Bibles are a great help because they build the reading plan right in. Set aside time for prayer every day. Consider buying a prayer journal to track both your requests and His answers! Join a Refresh Group—there’s one for nearly every season and stage of life! Another step we strongly encourage is finding a mentor—someone who’s walked this path a little longer than you. Your Refresh Group leader might be a great place to start!
Service & Ministry
Service and ministry are how believers use their God-given gifts to serve others, both within the church and in the broader community. This reflects Christ’s example of humble service and helps to build up the body of Christ. Every believer has a role to play, and serving others is a tangible way to live out the gospel. (1 Peter 4:10; Ephesians 4:12)
How?
There are tons of ways to use your gifts to build up the church and bless the world. At MSCC, we ask everyone who wants to serve to first attend a Discover class. After that, visit our Ministries page to explore options, or swing by the Next Steps desk on a Sunday to talk it through with a Serve Team member!
Witnessing & Evangelism
Witnessing and evangelism involve sharing the good news of Jesus Christ with others. It’s about being a living testimony to the power of the gospel and actively seeking to lead others to Christ. Evangelism is not just a duty but a privilege, reflecting God’s heart for the lost and His desire for all to come to repentance. (Matthew 28:19; Acts 1:8)
How?
We believe in the power of invitation! That’s why we regularly equip you with invite cards for special events like Easter, Christmas, and Launch Sunday. Our Calendar Bookmarks (available every other month) also have a tearaway invitation at the bottom—just stop by the New Here or Next Steps desk to grab a few.

Leadership Development
Leadership development is about preparing believers to take on roles of greater responsibility within the church. Whether teaching, serving as a deacon, or providing pastoral care, leadership requires ongoing training and a commitment to servant leadership. God calls certain individuals to lead His people, and it’s important to be ready and equipped for that calling. (1 Timothy 3:1-2; Titus 1:5)
How?
Once you’ve been serving for a while, it might be time to shift from volunteer to leader. Start taking on greater responsibility, own an area, and begin pouring into others the way someone once poured into you. Talk to your ministry leader about how you can grow into that role—we’re always looking for new Refresh Group leaders too!
Mentorship
Mentorship is about investing in others by guiding, teaching, and encouraging them in their faith. It’s a way to help newer believers grow and mature, ensuring that the faith is passed on to the next generation. Mentorship reflects the biblical model of discipleship, where more mature believers take the time to help others along their spiritual journey. (Titus 2:3-4; Proverbs 27:17)
How?
Remember that mentor who walked with you during your discipleship journey? Now it’s your turn to pass it on. You don’t have to stop being poured into, but you do get to start pouring into someone else. If you’re leading in a ministry or group, keep your eyes open for someone who needs a guide. Sometimes it starts with a simple invite to coffee.
