The History of Mountain Springs Calvary Chapel
Mountain Springs Calvary Chapel (MSCC) has evolved into a welcoming community with two campuses in Calgary and Cochrane, Alberta. Initially led by Pastor Joel Turner, who transitioned from a career in comedy to ministry, MSCC focuses on providing a home for its congregants through meaningful services, diverse ministries, and a strong emphasis on community involvement. Their commitment to biblical teaching and fostering connections within the community is central to their mission.
The History of the Calvary Chapel Movement
Calvary Chapel began in 1965 in Costa Mesa, California, founded by Pastor Chuck Smith. The church quickly gained popularity during the “Jesus Movement” of the 1960s and 1970s, attracting many young people with its contemporary worship style and verse-by-verse teaching of the Bible. Today, Calvary Chapel has grown into a network of over 1,700 affiliated churches worldwide, known for its emphasis on biblical teaching, evangelism, and contemporary worship music.
